Anderobi Neon-Flow is sitting at his desk on Gudrun, enjoying the rain outside as a reminder of his far away home of Terezinho. Crime is low here, and he is bored. It means the city streets are safe, but it also means there is little for him to do. The television plays gently in the background as another night of meaningless paperwork passes, the news repeating over and over again as Galnet discusses the comings and goings of the sector. The dull rain patter is broken suddenly, by the slam of a large paper file on your desk, so thick it is bound with three rubber bands

The slam of the file snaps Anderobi out of the trance the rain and paperwork had put him in. He runs his left eye while running his thumb through the file. "Scared me a bit there!" he says with a grin. "The rain's a bit too relaxing sometimes." He looks down at the file and then back up. "Awful big file here, isn't it? Must be something exciting that happened, yeah?"
Avatar
"Something to that effect. You remember Saul Harcrow, the old First Marshal back before this CIS, UNW, letters and names nonsense? You may not, but probably at least remember the name. This is an older case log of his. He's gone missing. We're trying to figure out what happened to him
Avatar
The word 'case' makes his ears perk up, as well as cause his breathing to speed up. A small grin crescents across his face before he takes a cough to try and regain his composure. "I recall seeing his name pop up in my paperwork and in the news occasionally." he says with a small crack in his voice. "Someone of his standing, hopefully he's simply gone off radar."
Avatar
"Still begs the question of why. We need to look into it, even if the answer ends up being pretty innocent. So what do you think. You up for it?"
Avatar
Several of his favorite detective novels rush through his mind, as well as his days playing detective back home. The nostalgia of it all forces a huge smile through his attempt at a serious demeanor, as he hops to his feet and inadvertently shouts "YES! YES! YES! Yes I will!" His cheeks flush an almost neon red and his eyes look ready to pop out of his head as his own reaction hits him. He takes a deep breath, saying "I... I mean I would be glad to look into Mr. Harcrow's disappearance."
Avatar
"Very good. We checked his house already. His bike is gone, but thats hardly unusual, he loved the thing so much. Maybe take a look around his home, see what you can come up with, or see if we can at least strike some possibilities off our list
Avatar
He nods. "I'll check out his home, and if nothing sticks out there, I'll speak with some of his friends and acquaintances."
Avatar
"Alright. Patrol car is out back. Got a new cell in it and everything, don't even need to tip me. Call if you need backup, we've got a few other units in the area on patrol
Avatar
"Much appreciated. I'll keep you in the loop on anything I find." He picks the case file up off his desk and hurries to the patrol car. He finds a spot out of sight in the car to put the file, and then takes off for Harcrow's house.
Avatar
Saul's home is a modest two floor colonial style home in one of the wealthier areas of central. His bike is gone, but his patrol buggy, and his personal trivedi roadster are still parked in the detached carport. a pair of maintainer eyebots hover around, buffing the car's immaculate wax coats, trimming vegetation on the edge of the property, and keeping pests away from the beds of vegetation near the house.
Avatar
Anderobi parks the patrol car in front of Harcrow's house on the street and hops out. He walks up to Saul's buggy and looks over the outside for anything odd.
Avatar
(notice/wis)
Avatar
The grove compartment of the buggy has been broken open. The lock is bent out of alignment even though the hatch itself was closed after
Avatar
He pulls out his compad and takes a picture of the compartment as well as the bent lock. He returns his compad to his pocket and then looks through the compartment, checking for anything out of place or something that appears missing.
Avatar
All the repair records have been taken, along with the technical specs. The marshal's holdout weapon has also been taken from the glovebox
14:03
(you'd see the little molded holster for it, but no gun anymore)
Avatar
He snaps a picture of where the gun should be, as well as a picture of the whole buggy. He makes a mental note to check for any recent crimes involving Harcrow's style of pistol when hes back at the station. He closes up the glovebox and the buggy, then takes a closer look at the Roadster for anything out of place.
Avatar
(Would I know what style weapon he had?)
Avatar
(he had a ton of guns but he was favoring revolvers)
Avatar
The roadster otherwise seems fine, the windows are not broken but it’s impossible to tell from visual inspection how they got in
Avatar
He pulls out his compad and jots in his notes Nothing noticeably off on the outside of the Roadster. May need to check with a Trivedi rep, see if it sent any notices on their end regarding recent access to it. He puts his pad away and walks over to the eyebrows and tries to get their attention.
Avatar
The eyebots stop as you enter their area, unable to complete their programmed commands with you in their environment
Avatar
"Uhh... Hello! I don't know if you take verbal commands, but I'm looking for your owner, Mr. Saul Harcrow. Can you take me inside to where your recordings and backups are so I can check them out?" (edited)
Avatar
One of the bots bobs gently, and flashes its lights. Two small green guide lights follow behind it on trailing wires as it olpens the front door of the house and allows you inside. It is every bit a Mcmansion, the furnishings are cheap, but made to look elegant, and the place is sitting under a thick blanket of dust
Avatar
"Oh cool! That worked!" he thinks as the bot heads into the house. As they proceed into and thru the house, he adds to his notes the large amount of dust inside, and wonders to himself how long Sarcrow has been missing.
Avatar
A small office, to the right of the entryway has its wooden and glass doors open. Cobwebs infest the corners, and a large 3D cutaway of his beloved grav bike is framed on the wall, behind his giant plush Lope leather armchair. A computer is on the desk, mounted there, along with the former marshal's encryption block, and a few loose 10mm shell casings
Avatar
(The shells are intact. Not fired. Just loose)
Avatar
(Would I have any sort of evidence bags with me? Otherwise can I Sense The Need and commit effort to have some?)
Avatar
(Youd have come prepared for your job )
Avatar
"Thank you, eyebot! I'll stay out of your hair now!" He waves to the bot as he steps into the office. The grav bike cutout catches his attention first, followed by the computer and loose shells. He takes a picture of the desk, and then pulls out a pair of tweezers and drops a couple of the shells into an evidence bag. "Now what do we have here..." He sits in front of the computer and looks over the encryption block before turning on the computer.
Avatar
The computer boots up, showing a normal start screen, and then a blank desktop. The encryption block growls, blocking most of what would be showing up on the screen
Avatar
"Uhh... Sherlock didn't have to deal with damned encryption..."
23:19
(Is the encryption block that's mounted his decryption code?)
Avatar
(Or is it just what encrypts his computer?)
Avatar
(its what encrypts and decrypts his computer)
02:33
(basically to keep people from casually fiddling through his stuff like you're about to do)
Avatar
He looks over the keyboard, checking if any of the keys appear more worn than others.
Avatar
It does not look like he used the computer much, most of the keys look essentially pristine (but a program,/int , or your gift, could probably help)_
Avatar
Anderobi weaves the MES in and around him around his fingertips. As his fingers touch the computer, he changes the focus to the computers past, searching for an important or emotional event tied to it. As he searches, he tries to bring Saul Harcrow into the postcognitive vision.
Avatar
Saul is sitting at the computer, the screen is black and he is about to shut it down for the night when it suddenly ignites again. simple green letters scroll across the screen. There is work for you to do still, Mr. Harcrow
04:21
he frowns, and suddenly another message begins to appear. Look to the window There is a brief flicker of light, like heat lightning, and Silvano Mazzio is standing in the front yard, his leather and fur lined duster in much better condition than it is now, and some of the age lines he currently has on his last sighting have not yet formed.
04:23
Saul heads outside, and the two of them speak at length about saul's sister abigail, and her tribe of the 'thrown away' down in the southern swamps. He is offering refuge, work , and a new home for them to go to where their contributions would be more appreciated- and they'd be spared from the shame of mostly being on the wrong side of losing wars against the pre-UNW Greenbriar Inc.
04:24
Saul himself is being upstaged by a group of new marshals, who are making his own investigative efforts look vastly insufficient. "Well, I suppose no one here will miss me. You're serious though? You're just going to leave the UNW and do your own thing? And really? Shriven's ships? Its the lawman in me maybe, but i hate the idea of stealing"
04:25
--Silvano laughs. "Whos' laws are you enforcing right now anyway? I'll tell you what. I'll meet you back here. Stay low, enjoy your semi-retirement, and keep to yourself. I'll come back in a year, once I've established myself and we've hopefully beaten the shapers back. I'll offer you the same choice , and if you accept-we leave right away" (edited)
04:26
Anderobi returns to the present day Harcrow home, and it seems more evident than ever that the offer was accepted.
Avatar
He sighs, and thinks to himself "Seems he did leave voluntarily. Still, it's a shame that he left out of frustration. I hope he found greener pastures with Silvano." He stands up from the computer, turns it off and leaves the house. As he walks to his patrol car, he reminds himself to look into Harcrow's stolen handgun. "Don't want someone getting robbed or murdered with an ex-Marshall's weapon.

(Awesome!) returning to the station, with the knowledge of what happened to the old First Marshal, you begin typing up your report so it can circulate among the UNW important movers. As you begin looking into this matter, you see that several other low to mid rank UNW personnel of some renoun have also not been hard from in some time. -Sanjit - Dr. Melora Reydove -Brethan Allemond - Ricardo Diaz, former CIS
Avatar
He reads the first couple of names, interested in the each one's story. However, when he sees Former CIS, his interest is truly piqued. "Former CIS as well, huh? That seems extremely coincidental..." He begins looking further into Mr. Diaz's last known whereabouts, as well as for any connections between him and Sarcrow. (edited)
Avatar
Aside from working for CIS about the same time the two were at the battle of cresusa , trying to put the pieces back together after cyrus and his loyalists quit the system. Ricardo was still there when his address was last queried, choosing to semi retire there before all connection with him was lost
Avatar
He jots down Ricardo's last known address, and then queries the system for any known associates.
Avatar
The man had few friends and even fewer contact details. All you’re able to get is a face and an address- along with proof of temporary lodging at the Gudrun psionic academy pre posting
02:41
There is a redacted section of the file under that
Avatar
"Something classified? Might help pinpoint him if I knew what was there..." He thinks for a moment, before sending his boss a message regarding Diaz's file. Mrs. Wilde, I'm currently looking over the Ricardo Diaz file, trying to find a good starting point to locate him. However, what little there is to be found in his file is either an old address or redacted. Who do I need to talk to get his full file? While he waits for an answer, he begins searching the database for any shootings in the last month linked to a revolver.
05:53
(Hope its OK i gave her a name, it's too weird to me to write an 'email' without a name attached) (edited)
Avatar
(All good)
13:28
There is a reply from her as the day goes on , revealing that this is a sensitive matter and Mr.Diaz was a Yama King. There have been no revolver based shootings
Avatar
(Would he know the basics of what a Yama king is? Or not much since magic is still so new?)
Avatar
(You'd know the basics with getting the redacted info)
Avatar
He reads over the new info on Diaz, rereading the more fantastic parts. "This says a Yama King can blend in anywhere, and talk their way into almost anything. Even if he did have any notable associates, they wouldn't be able to give us the smallest lead." he says aloud to himself. He sits back for a second and thinks. "I could see if the academy could offer any leads, but given his abilities, I don't think they'll be of much help." he says, talking to himself again. He types up another message for his boss: Mrs. Wilde, I would like to request some funds to travel to and from Cruesa in search of Mr. Diaz. Given what we know of his abilities, I doubt little on Gudrun will be of use at this time. If I can explore his last known address, I'm sure I'll get a lead on his whereabouts!
Avatar
Mrs. Wilde books passage for you on one of the dozens of ad astra shuttles traveling between worlds. Creusa is much calmer now and the flight should take the normal amount of time. The academy likewise has eyes and ears on the planet as it recovers and may be able to further assist once you’re on the ground
Avatar
He grabs a few more evidence bags and extra tweezers as he leaves his office. On his way out of the station, he drops off the 10mm shells with forensics for a cursory check over, and then leaves the station for his shuttle. As he waits in line to board, a smile erupts across his face as he realizes that he's finally in the thick of real investigative work. He's no Holmes, he thinks, but he hopes to do some good for the world while following his passions.

You arrive at Creusa to find the planet I. Relative calm. The defense fleet along with a small void wardens base watches over the war kissed planet though there is improvement on the surface. Most recent a piggen scientist brought notice and expertise to a water issue on the smallest floating city and Residents there can once again enjoy water right from their own faucets without boiling

(Sorry my daughters birthday was yesterday, I'll get a post up in a bit)

Ricardo had a last address in city C , but no other information or details of its interior layout are known
Avatar
You might be able to pull a blueprint from town hall, and his neighbors might give some clues about what his routine was like before he stopped reporting in.
